What are the orthodontic treatments in Lausanne for adults?

At CHD , when you make an appointment with one of our orthodontists, they will recommend the treatment best suited to your situation . For adults, there is a virtually invisible orthodontic solution that can correct misaligned teeth and enhance your smile: Invisalign aligners.

However, if your situation does not allow you to wear Invisalign aligners , we can also offer you other alternatives, including a fixed device such as a “ring” made of metal, resin or ceramic; or even dental veneers .

What are the orthodontic treatments in Lausanne for children?

The most common orthodontic treatment for children involves the fitting of a fixed appliance such as “braces”. There are two distinct techniques: the classic method in which the brackets are placed on the external face of the tooth (and therefore visible), or the lingual technique in which the brackets are positioned on the internal face of the teeth and therefore completely hidden.

Depending on the patient’s case, it is also entirely possible to consider fitting Invisalign aligners. Ask your orthodontist to determine the right solution for your child or teenager.

When should you consult an orthodontic center?

As an adult , consult an orthodontist if you feel the need, that is, if you are bothered by poor alignment of your teeth, whether for aesthetic reasons or for your oral health.

For children , it is recommended to see an orthodontist from a young age, around 6 years old. At this age, there is still time to detect a possible problem and start specific treatment. Otherwise, know that most orthodontic treatments for children begin between 6 and 10 years old.

What are the different types of orthodontic appliances?

When you begin orthodontic treatment, your orthodontist will often offer you two alternatives:

  • Traditional braces which consist of placing “brackets” on each tooth and connecting them together to correct their alignment;
  • Invisalign : transparent, almost invisible aligners that straighten your teeth as treatment progresses.

What are the steps of orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontics is a treatment that takes place over time . When you decide to start orthodontic treatment, you will need to meet your orthodontist several times, including:

  • An initial meeting to determine your needs and the most appropriate solution for your situation;
  • The design of the device selected during the preparatory meeting;
  • Fitting the device  and starting treatment;
  • Follow-up appointments to check that the treatment is continuing properly and to adapt it as needed;
  • final appointment to remove the device (particularly in the case of rings);
  • follow-up appointment to ensure that the treatment worked according to the original plan.

How long does orthodontic treatment last at CHD Lausanne?

The duration of an orthodontic treatment varies greatly and generally depends on the complexity of the treatment to be carried out. The more complex the correction to be carried out, the longer the duration of the treatment.

How much does orthodontic treatment cost?

The cost of orthodontic treatment is difficult to estimate in detail because it depends on the complexity of the dental alignment to be carried out, the duration of the treatment, the device and the material you choose, etc.

Generally, expect to pay between 2500 and 9500 CHF for adult orthodontic treatment , and between 2500 and 8500 CHF for a child .
